RE: chi vang attorneys will use self defense and
"Self defense" is afforded to anyone who is threatened with any force that a reasonable person would conclude to be "deadly." That defense is available regardless where the entry/exit wounds are located. (back, front, it doesn't matter)
Evidence will undoubtedly show that Chi Vang's victims did possess knives, ammunition, and probably firearms. I have not heard any credible report that the decedents didn't have any type of firearms. Further, that crime scene was tampered with by the property owners before law enforcement officials arrived.
I've heard that Chi was threatened by the group, and was fired upon while walking away. While this story may be incredible, as well, I dont think it's appropriate to bash the legal system for giving Chi Vang the ability to exercise his constitutional rights to defend his case.
Situations like that usually don't happen unilaterally. I mean, there is usually some causation attributable to more than one party.
I believe that Chi Vang DID, in fact, feel threatened to a degree. Normal people just don't go on a killing spree without provocation. I also believe that a court will find Mr. Vang's "self-defense" to be excessive, and therefore, he will be barred from raising self-defense as a defense.
