I have a Winchester model 94 .356 lever action that I purchased new about 15 years ago. I bought 2 boxes on ammo (200 gr. power point) and still have 6 rounds left. I rarely use this rifle because most of my hunting is done in open fields where 250 - 300+ yard shots are common. I want to hunt more of the swamp bottoms and cutovers next year and I was considering using this gun for those situations. I have recently discovered a website that carries this caliber in a 250 gr. round nose bullets. Most of the deer in my area only weigh 150 lbs. A 180 lb. deer is considered a Moose here in eastern, NC. The ballistics for this round is showing just a little better than 2000 fps at the muzzle. Has anyone had any experience with this caliber/bullet weight combination?
Thanks!

That rifle/cartridge is capable out to 150, perhaps 200 if scoped. Can't say anything about the particular loading you found, but I'll bet you could reload and do better, if you thought it was worthwhile.
Even so, anything within 100 yds is venison.

Thanks UncleNorby for the quick reply. I should have been more specific about my question. I was wondering more about the actual bullet performance (ie. bullet expansion, quick kill etc. etc.) ~ Thanks
