i hunt in ny state any advice on using the can after the rut has finished and has anyone ever called in a buck using the can after the rut

Nope, but it works great for coyotes.

if you are talking about the Primos Can ... I let out one call with it as soon as I sat down tuesday evening, not 10 minutes later a little buck came right to me... there's meat in the freezer now thanks to that can

which can are you guys using?? the one that says early season or the other?? are you only making one call at a time or 2-3 at a time with it ?? I have used it several times down here since oct and have never called in a deer with it....

here's what I'm using

Primos "The GREAT BIG Can" long range estrus bleats for all phases of the rut

I do not hunt in a tree stand because I feel like I want the deer to hear the call coming from their level, not up in a tree.

I usually make ONE SINGLE bleat after I get on stand and everything is quiet. If there is no wind it seems to work best. If I haven't heard anything for about a hour then I'll do it again. Sometimes it works like a charm, it just seems to matter if there is a buck in hearing distance.

I use the "Original Primos Bleat Can"

I usually wait til I see deer before I use it, but I occasionally will call 2 to 3 times with short pauses inbetween, then I'll rattle a hard sequence and repeat after the next 30 minutes. This works best before the peak of the rut here in Ohio, otherwise the bucks will hear it, but then stay with the doe they have and not even think twice of the sound he just heard.

I always use a grunt call, knights makes a good variable one. I like it because I can make all kinds of calls with one grunt. I can do doe bleats, contact grunts, call grunts, etc.. I dont go out with out it. I use it all the time. Many deer I got, I wouldnt have with out it.
