Tree Stand stolen - owner prints article !!!!
There was an article printed in our local paper (warren times observer - warren county, pa) in the "letter to the editor" section. This guy had a treestand set up on his property and it was stolen. Well little did the thief know that he had three trail-cams set up veiwing different angles and caught the thief red handed. He said in the article that "I know who you are and if you bring the treestand back within ten days, I won't go to the police, but if you don't bring it back, I will make sure you are prosecuted to the fullest extent". Can you guys/gals imagine the look on the guys face who took the treestand after reading that article............and I'm pretty sure that he read it because everyone reads the local paper due to the fact that we have no other source of "local" news here. I just thought that the article was hilarious!!!!!

Should have printed the photos! I strongly believe that the rest of YOUR community deserves to know that this particular individual is a thief in order to watch out for this person and protect their property. A thief is a thief is a thief.

Uncle Matt's right, that really would have taught him a lesson to see his own picture in the paper...while he was in the act no less.

RE: Tree Stand stolen - owner prints article !!!!
nice un..... He should have used the moron's first name... like, " I have pictures & I know who you are FRANK!" "Now bring my dam stand back!!!"

RE: Tree Stand stolen - owner prints article !!!!
i am suspicious that the guy is bluffing because he didn't post the pictures in the paper.
it may be just a trick to get his stand back, i hope it works out for him. |
RE: Tree Stand stolen - owner prints article !!!!
My son's (14 yr) stand was stolen last week. He worked for and bought it with his own money. I left a note on the tree but I'm not to optimistic about getting it back.

RE: Tree Stand stolen - owner prints article !!!!
When I first read the article I thought maybe the guy was bluffing too. Although I can't think from a thief's point of view, I'm not sure I would want to call that bluff. ;)

RE: Tree Stand stolen - owner prints article !!!!
It might be that he didnt print the pics because of legal issues. Not sure but it might be
illegal to print someones pic in the paper without permission even though it appears that they are stealing. Would be great though, I would loved to seen the look on his face!!:D |

RE: Tree Stand stolen - owner prints article !!!!
It's in an area that many of the neighborhood people walk through. We have permission to hunt it the owner has never put up posted signs so it's one of those spots that will get visitors,if you know what I mean.

RE: Tree Stand stolen - owner prints article !!!!
Hope he nails the guy for it. LeeinVA1, sorry to hear about you losing those cams. How can anyone call themselves a hunter when they pull crap like that. No respect at all for someone else's property. Charlie P, that is pretty harsh when a young guy saves his money, buys something, and then has it stolen. If nothing it was a lesson that even in the woods not all can be trusted but not the sort of lesson that a youngster should have to learn. Unfortunately, it's pretty tough to guard against that sort of thing and the acts of a few morons really ruin it for the rest of us at times.

RE: Tree Stand stolen - owner prints article !!!!
I left a pair of boots in my ground blind a couple years ago when I went in to eat lunch with my brothers. I concealed the boots behind a log and covered them with grass. I went back out after lunch and sure enough my used boots were gone.
Lesson learned: Some people will steal ANYTHING in the woods that isn't chained and locked. If it is chained and locked, they come back with bolt cutters later and take it anyway. |
RE: Tree Stand stolen - owner prints article !!!!
I hope the guy does have pictures and nails the SOB.[:@] A couple years ago someone stole mine, my son's, and a buddy's stand off of private land. Last year someone stole my son's climber when he left it to go get a bite to eat. He came back a couple hours later and it was gone. Really ruins a guys afternoon.
