good question charlie! I want to try it up here in MA as well. Is a .22LR suitable? And also i would want to keep the hides, but are they difficult to skin and tan the hides?

I haven't skined one, I think it might be like skinning a dear or raccoon. I will probably hang it on my shed.

I think a 22 is undergunned.JMO. I like to use a higher powered rifle than a 22. You definantly need good range and some knockdown power. They don't look like much but yotes are really tuff.
