Default One dead... others already wounded...

Ohio's gun season kicked off Nov. 29 (2 days ago) and there was one person shot dead *by one of his own party members* and another shot himself in the foot, another in the hand, and the list goes on... boy people just are careless nowadays! As for my opening day in Ohio, i never say anyone else in the woods let alone any deer. Gun season is all messed up this year and I don't know why...

you have to at least have a blaze orange vest on. cant just wear a hat. people are just careless and dont pay attention to their surroundings. last night i was in a stand and 2 boys walked in where i was hunting. i mean young maybe 16 and 14. they were across the property line so i couldnt bitch but i didnt see an adult and i let them know i was there. even with the blaze on they didnt see me threw the thick stuff. i could barely see them too. i let them know i was there and they said they didnt see me. so i moved out and went to another stand for the afternoon. perfect example of why people get hurt. not paying attention. also i will find out who thier dad is and ask why they were alone. in ohio if you are under 18 you have to have an adult with you at all times during gun hunts. period. land owner or not.

Thats terrible. The only accident I've heard about here is a hunter falling out of his tree stand. I think he dislocated his shoulder.
Like they always said on Hill Street Blues, "Lets be careful out there".

I would like to take this time to pat my grandson on the back. He's 18 but only been hunting two years. Sun. morn. I radioed him and his dad, I was coming down and would walk around to the pines, and maybe spook a deer their way. Well, I jumped one and it run up to his stand, and them on past where my son killed her.

I ask Phil why he didn't shoot it, and he said he wasn't sure where I was.I was very proud of him, he's only killed one, and I know he was hyped to shoot this one.

Is it legal to use radios to aid in the taking of game in KY? I know it isn't legal here in IL. Most of the Conservation Police here have scanning radios and can listen for guys using radios to "aid in the taking of game".

Uncle Matt (in IL)

Where in the rulebook does it say this??? I hunt with the game warden and have never heard of such thing, except during the supervised youth hunts. Oh yeah, and I hunt with the game warden for Highland County *informs me of rules, often*, never heard of it still....[:-]
