FIRST DEER WITH THE SMOKEPOLE!!
Well 20 years of rifle hunting can't even guess how many deer I have had the good fortune to take home. But 3 years ago a friend of mine introduced me to the joys of blackpowder hunting! Last night I got to bag my first deer with the traditions .54 iron sights real blackpowder and a round ball. Now it was only a fawn but when the smoke cleared and it was laying on the ground I was shaking so badly I could hardly hold the patch to start a new ball. It did get up and run about 60 yards but I caught up with it 45 minutes later and to make this short tender loins for supper tonight. I hope I never lose that boyish excitement if I do I will quit!:D

I can't understand the inline crowd...killing a whitetail with a PRB and smokey, stinky BP is something special. Just feels different from a centerfire or inline.

RE: FIRST DEER WITH THE SMOKEPOLE!!
I haven't ever used a flintlock, but i do have an inline and I am hoping to take a deer with it this year. Personal choices i guess. The main reason I chose an inline was resale if I ever sold it. not much market around here for a used flintlock. PS congrats on the deer.

I would say it is all personal choice. I do not totally agree with the 200 yard inlines but that is up to individual. Thanks all for the congrats.

I just got my 2nd one tonight with a blackpowder. First one with this gun. It was a button buck thought it was a doe but it dropped in its tracks. Blackpowder is a rush.
