I guess that I must be a horrible hunter. We actually built our cabin on a bench on the mountain, for the express purpose of using the deck as one of the stands. We have taken many mature, great whitetails and many turkeys in the backyard. It really helps out the older hunters to be able to take a break from climbing one morning or evening and it is also a great security always having someone at the cabin during the season. You would be surprised how many hunting cabins get broken into during prime hunting hours. NOT OURS! Plus there is always hot coffee on for those who get cold and come out. I think people need to understand that not all of us will agree with each others hunting methods. If my diabetic father shoots a trophy off of the deck of the cabin, you can bet your britches we will brag about it. I took an 8pt off of the deck last year. I shot him at 138 yards and he dropped in his tracks. I was very proud of him and his antlers adorn the honor wall at the cabin right now. To each is own.

I'm a pretty serious hunter and I put many miles on my boots but if I had a secluded property and a big buck walked out you bet I'd plug em. Leave the girl alone guys, she just wanted to share a story with us. If someone actually posted a story where the whole hunt was from the house then I could see it.

This in now way shape or form have anything to do with the type of weapon used to harvest you deer, as long as it's legal! As in Gunhunter or Bowhunter. I use both. So forget about it.

Never!!!!!!!! I see no difference between road hunting and house hunting! I enjoy hunting for the perfect spot to set up my stand. To me thats part of the hunt. Sitting in my drivers seat or lazy boy isn't part of hunting. I like to work for it. Thats just me. If thats your style do it. I just don't see the challenge or enjoyment from that style. If you enjoy it and are proud of have fun! Thats not the sport of hunting I was raised on or believe in. I personaly would be ashamed of shooting something out my window. Legal or not! I could never mount it and then look at it for the rest of my life. I hunt the same way with my shotgun as I do with my bow and enjoy the time in the woods. I take the time to scout the woods I hunt. Thats me and my style like it or not. I like it. I guess if thats your style be proud!
Please explain to me the difference between road hunting and house hunting, without the handicaped factor! I see none, enlighten me! JMO:)

I am not trying to be all high and mighty so please forgive me if I'm coming off that way. These are my beliefs. I'm proud of them!

RBH, thanks, I'm not too much in an uproar about Fool here... his name says it all IMO.

I think he would do the same thing if he was given the opportunity... What if a non-typical 32 pointer walked out, he's trying to tell me he wouldn't attempt a shot at it, bow OR rifle? Yeah... if you believe that, I have some oceanfront property to sell you in Arizona.

And on the same note, if his whole hunting season had been from the laZboy, I'd see the point.

Well, for one, the advantage of a car is that it moves, you can take it anywhere you want, scouting, "hunting", whatever, it's a movable blind. Oh, and I believe it IS illegal in most states, correct me if I am wrong on that though. The difference here is, it's a house, no different than a blind. He strategically placed his HOUSE in the middle of a woods, not much of a difference than that and a stand or blind, right? I'm sure he did his business scouting different pieces of land, in fact, when he bought this land, he hunted from the same spot his house now sits on, he had a blind in the same spot... I guess he just replaced it with a 1500sq ft. model with a kitchen and bathroom! LOL He had this land far before he built on it, he orignially bought the land strictly for hunting, but later, after much house hunting in the city decided to build there.

And Fool, you ARE coming across as a "high and mighty", so if that isn't the real you, then you should probably be a bit more subdued...

But I hunt for meat, not style points. I would indeed call it luck - but frankly, luck has a lot to do with success no matter if you're being stylish about it or not. You're saying to throw away a purely lucky opportunity just because of the style.

This reminds me of the guy who came on line a few weeks back (a hoax it turns out) who claimed still hunting/stalking was the only way to hunt and stand hunters weren't really hunters.
