Building a blind on a mountain

I hunt on my own land which is 25 acres of wooded mountains. We had our property logged a couple years ago so I have plenty to work with. There are 4 different logging trails, each higher than the other. Should I build a blind on the highest, lowest or somewhere in the middle ? I can't shoot up the mountain because there are houses at the top. If I go low I see them up high, if I go high, I see them down low (damn Murphy and that law). This is the first year I've hunted, ever, so any help would be most appreciated. I've been reading some posts and y'all sound like a bunch of helpful guys. I'm glad I joined this forum.
Happy hunting,
Steve

I'd definately say go the highest. If it's only 25 acres and you're not able to shoot up, you might as well be at the highest point so you'll have the opportunity to shoot any deer you see below you on your property. Also you'll be higher up out of their line of sight and less chance they'll have of catching yer scent. Especially if the wind is blowing up the mountain as it typically does around here. Good luck on your blind and hunting.

RE: Building a blind on a mountain

In the morning the thermals will rise as the day wears on, so I would hunt higher in the morning to keep your scent from traveling up the mountain. In the evening the thremals will fall as the air cools and your scent will go downhill. I would hunt lower in the evening to keep your scent from traveling down to the deer. Good luck and show us some pics when you get one....
