Last Day of Archery season and Gunfire?

The sun was setting and we had about 45 minutes left of shooting time and there seemed to be a lot of gun fire going on. I am guessing that more of those lazy "hunters" doing the illegal taking of game. Anyone experience this?

Isn't it still small game season in most states? Why is it that a shot automatically means someone is doing something illegal?

I did say I was guessing.

I hunted the 29th and the 30th of Dec and heard no shots that close to sunset. But on the 31st it sounded like the opener.......

The same thing happens around me. But I'm guessing that at least 9 of 10 shots are either small game or are at the rifle range.

I think most poachers do their dirty work at night.

Hunting is a right, treat it like a priviledge - respect nature

Yeah, I have heard no shortage of shooting at night while I'm ice fishing for crappies. I'm sure some of this is poaching. But varmit hunting has become quite popular he in central minnesota and they are allowed to hunt them at night as long as they don't use artificial lights. Very popular on full moon clear nights with some snow on the ground.

All I can say is shoot them yotes! But leave the deer alone!

I've sometimes wondered why there were so many guns going off during our October bow season. But honestly out here in rual East Tx, gunfire is heard year round I don't think much of it, until I'm sitting in the deer stand on a quiet evening. Sure a couple of the shots could be outlaw hunters, but I doubt very many.
