Cabela's has a tanning product they sell that they say will tan a hide in about 5 days.

Tanning a hide is a lot of work...I don't recommend doing it at home. I suggest you check the Internet for tanneries. They do a good job and the cost is reasonable. When I was a boy on the farm my dad would just mail the hide on the outside ebarn wall inside out and let the sun tan it, but it was stiff as a board. Native American squaws chewed the rawhide to soften it and tanning was done with deer brain. Tannery!
