Missed at 5 yards!

RE: Missed at 5 yards!
I appreciate your honesty. That's a hilarious story!!!
I don't think anyone else on here would've admitted to that. I'm sure it happens, but 5 yard is usually stretched to at least 150 or 200 by the time it gets here. Works a lot like a fish at the coffee shop. I'll see someone catch it that morning, and the fish will only be 3, maybe four pounds. By that afternoon, the fish will have put on another 4 inches and about a pound and a half.

That's exactly why I went to see through rings on my .270. If ya lose them running while looking through your scope you can still see them perfect through the raised rings!!! They sure were worth the few extra bucks!!! There's been quite a few times where I wouldn't have had any kind of a shot with out the see through rings.....look into them for your rifle....you'll be glad you did.....

I hunt with a .243 thats sighted at 200 yds using a 6-18 power scope. One time I got off the blind a little early one morning to try and do some stalking on some scendero's and roads. Well I seen some pigs moving around in some of the thickest stuff and put a stalk on them. I was walking a trail and could here them, well one is walking straight towards me, it was getting so close to me I couldnt even focus it through the scope. I had to shoot that pig at five yds instinctively ( aiming down the side of the barrell) and put a shot right through the eyes.

I needed to hear that - now I don't feel so bad about missing a 70 yard shot on opening day. I was just way too excited and somehow missed it. A one inch group at 100 yards on the range is easy, but when your heart is pounding 1000 times a minute, its a different story. I've learned to take my time and not rush

Hey, bring it on! I have been looking for people to give me a good, hard kick because I deserve it.
All I had to do was step back from that tree so it wouldnt be in my way, but I guess I was worried about the deer seeing me move. I was just too excited I guess. Last year I got a buck that was coming right at me from under 10 yds. But I was sitting, didnt have anything blocking me, and as soon as he angled I shot him clean.
Anyway, wont make that mistake again.
