Need Help With Scope!!
I'm shooting a 6/284 my Father built this rifle in 1966, he also put a Weaver scope on it same year, the scope is outdated for the rifle.
I'm looking to upgrade, I have 2 scopes in mind, would y'all please give me any expericances or info on the Nikon 3.5X10X50 Monarch,or the Leupold 3.5X10X50 Vari-X 111 scopes. ZIIIIPPPPP--PAP |
RE: Need Help With Scope!!
Both are very good scopes. A friend of mine uses the Nikon and is very pleased with it.

6-mag, do a search on "scope" in the Guns forum. Lots of good info there. As timbercruiser said, both the scopes you mention will do the job. I've no direct experience with Nikon, though, being a Leupold fan. With the exception of two Burris scopes, all my other scopes are Leupold.

RE: Need Help With Scope!!
I have the 3X9X40 Nikkon and it has served me well. I have been considering changing it out with a 50mm and going with the Leupold just to try a different model.

RE: Need Help With Scope!!
I sold all of my Leupold scopes several years ago and have bought nothing except Nikon since then. Until recently that is. There is a new scope on this side of the pond called Seeadler. They are made in Nuremburg Germany. It's really a great scope for the money.

RE: Need Help With Scope!!
6mag.....Leupold and Nikon are very good. Check out the Leupold Vari-X II's (they are discontinuing this line and replacing it with a new line) and you can get some really good deals on them. They are super scopes and alot less than the Vari-X III's.

RE: Need Help With Scope!!
For that kind of money, you'd do yourself a favor to take a look at the Bushnell Elite series scopes. I was a loyal Leupold man until I finally let a buddy who worked in an outdoors store talk me into the Elite series (was Baush and Lomb instead of Bushnell at the time). The Elite series blows the Leupolds away, IMO. Just as clear, and gathers light much better. The rainguard feature actually works, too. I had the Elite until last year, when I finally upgraded to a Zeiss. The European scopes are the only thing that I've found to be better than the Elite series from Bushnell.
