I wish the state of Texas would issue more doe tags in our area, Lavaca County, we've got about 8-9 does to every buck. Everyone just wants to shoot bucks and unfortunately many people still have the old idea that no does should be shot, because thats where the bucks come from and changing an old timers opinion is really hard to do. The state even makes the landowner get on a land management program or they won't issue the very few doe tags that they hand out. Many people and writers in the local papers have complained about the high population of does in Texas. Unfortunately most land in Texas is privately owned so even if the state boosts the tags the land owner still has control of his property and how many deer are taken, and he wants as many hunter paying $5,000 to hunt as possible.
