Do bucks snort and blow?
 

My buddy and I hunted yesterday afternoon and he says that a buck came up on him and then disappeared. Then as he was leaving the area, it blew at him. I asked him if it was a doe and he said it was the buck even though he never saw it again.

I've been hunting for 15 years and have seen a number of does blow/snort at me. But never have I seen a buck do it. I thought they just bolted.

Anyway, is he full of it like I think he is?

Bucks do snort and blow. I've seen it on a few occasions. All deer snort and blow when alarmed as far as I know...

yes they do, and some big bucks blow and snort more than the lil ones, i also heard that a big trophy buck wont show his tail when he retreats, well some cases they dont but most of them do. Each deer has its own personality just like humans.

Yes, bucks will definitly snort or blow. Haven't you ever seen the scent away commercial on the outdoor channel?;)

Bucks will definetly snort and blow. I had a small one sneak up behind me and wind me the other night. He did only blow once before bolting. Some of the does I have seen will blow 5 or 6 times before they run. It really annoys me!

My buddy and I were hunting last year right before dark, and as we were leaving after dark we heard a loud blow and a stomp. The buck did it for 15 minutes. We just wanted to wait him out, so that we could go to the truck, but it was so loud that it sounded like the air brakes on an amusement park ride. A loud SSSSSSSSHHHHHHHH! It was crazy. We grunted and snorted back, and he was furious. It was absolutely amazing. Of course I have never seen him in Day light, but my buddy got a quick glance, and said he is at least a 12 pointer and huge. One day I'm going to get him.

Why you get a bunch of bucks drinking and telling jokes and there is always one or two get to laughing....they snort blow, sometimes even spit up!
