after you kill your buck
do you just put him into the truck, or do you tie it where everyone can see it to show off??Ive heard some say that showing it off is fuel for animal rights activist fire. what are your thoughts??

RE: after you kill your buck
I own my own land and go ahead and process the deer myself. In missouri landowners now only have to call in to check in their deer so I never have to leave the cabin. So the only thing I could show off is a cooler full of meat, racks stay at the cabin. Have harvested quite a few deer, and have no interest to show anything off but I recommend keeping it low key!

RE: after you kill your buck
I'm still a redneck.Put it in my camo honda wagon, let the head hang out the hatchback and drive around. Never miss driving thru the center of Philly and the gamelands parking lots at quiting time
|
RE: after you kill your buck
I just put it in the back of my pickup and the only folks that can see it are the 18 wheeler drivers.
|
RE: after you kill your buck
I just put it in the back of the truck, bring it home and hang it in the garage. The only ones that see my animal is my family and relatives.

RE: after you kill your buck
Goes in the back of my truck. . . .I don't hunt to show off to anyone. If anything, even here in Texas, I am careful about getting into dicsussions about hunting. Never know when you are going to meet some one who feels that because I shoot the meat I eat myself I must be some kind of nut.

RE: after you kill your buck
There was a time when we were required to have some part of the deer open to view. That law has been changed. I just put the deer in the back of the truck, drive to the house and hang it for a few days before we cut it up ourselves. Nobody see the deer from woods to house...(that's didn't sound too good, did it?) You all know what I meant!

RE: after you kill your buck
Nobody sees mine as I get most of them on my own land and just take them up to the barn to hang them up and skin them. I shoot 90 percent does anyway. I am a meat hunter only.

RE: after you kill your buck
Put it in the truck, carry it to the skinning shed and put it in the cooler.

RE: after you kill your buck
I never really show off any deer I kill. I usually hunt on the land where I live. Now if I happen to kill a monster buck, I'm sure it'll be tempting to drive around town and show a few people. But after hearing about a member's buck getting stolen while he was stopped at a convenience store, I might reconsider. :D Nothing wrong with sharing pictures and stories though.

RE: after you kill your buck
First of all of you hunters that like the deer to hang out your cars just give all the Anit-Hunters more reason to believe that they are right on the way they think about hunting and hunters. To me this is something i love to do and feel no need to go showing off my deer once harvest. If u feel the need to show off ur kill get it cleaned up,mounted, etc... and then show it off all you want. Lets just try to give these nice animals some respect and not make others think bad of us hunters. I dont mean to offend anyone with this post but this is just the way i think of it.

RE: after you kill your buck
I thought that the animal rights people made it illegal to transport a deer that is not covered...or otherwise visible here in IL. My friend got pulled over by a conservation officer and I'm pretty sure he warned him about it. So obviously they aren't really worried about it, but animal rights people will b!tch about anything!

RE: after you kill your buck
Sorry I aint changing ,like the many of the cowardly politicians that have been running this country for the past 100 years and hid the bill of rights in a closet and amended the constitution so it aint worth a plum nickel Thats my feedom of expression.I aint backing off for no limp wristed peta puckers. And I do show off my mounts.I often stick one out the window of my car and drive around. I respect someone who hides it though ,thats your right to do so. But no peta pucker is going to tell me what to do, or force me to act ashamed of hunting ,the creeps.

RE: after you kill your buck
Here in Maryland, it is STRONGLY suggested that you cover anything that you kill. I don't think it is a law yet but I wouldn't doubt if it becomes one soon. There are too many anit-hunters and anti-gunners running around (and running) this liberal state. I have a hitch-haul on the back of my Durango and always cover my deer for two reasons. One, to not give the antis any more ammo and two, to keep any gross stuff from the road getting on my deer.
PS - I am envious of all you guys that have your own property to hunt on. |
RE: after you kill your buck
put it in the truck and take him home and hang em up

RE: after you kill your buck
When I hunt in Windsor, I hang it in a friends garage. People down here just aren't that hunter friendly. When I'm in Parry Sound for rifle season, me and the boys hang 'em on a meat pole just beside the camp. I don't know about you guys, but part of what I love about taking a couple of weeks off to hunt with the boys is going out every day and watching that meat pole sag.

RE: after you kill your buck
I hunt my own land and put them in the garage and invite a few hunter friends over for a few brews and we all brag and tell lies.
BUT I agree with you Cardeer we fought to hard for our rights to give them up to some PETA wrists. Not to pick on anyone but it seems the younger members are all to ready to sell basic rights down the road for a little comfort. A lot of blood, human, went over the falls for those rights, don’t be to quick to give up any of them to a bunch of idi… |
RE: after you kill your buck
Gutted in the box and straight to the skinning pole. I have never been much for flashing my harvests, in fact only the past few years have started packing a camera to take snaps while on hunts.
It doesn't bother me those who do choose to show the harvest. I like to see animals and hear stories of a successful hunt like anybody else does, just never seen the need to try to make my harvest noticable when I have an empty truck box! Different strokes for different folks!!! I am proud member of the original PETA -PEOPLE EATING TASTY ANIMALS. Anybody who has a problem with me hunting can.... KISS MY #$$! I certainly don't do this for anybody by myself and family. If it makes you happy go hard!!!!!! |
RE: after you kill your buck
I like to show mine to the other hunters at the check stations or to other hunters I know but I try to keep it low key on the roads. No sense in fueling the fire with the anti's!

RE: after you kill your buck
The laws have changed here acouple years ago , Then you were required to have some part of the deer visible and alot of people still do. I just put em in the truck with tail gate closed.
