Talking to CO's
Has anyone ever contacted their local conservation officers in an effort to get a better idea of the deer population in the area that they hunt in? I've heard that they can provide some information about not only the population, but movement patterns and what the deer are feeding on.
Just wondering if anyone has done this and what (if any) information were you able to get from your local CO's.
Thanks!

RE: Talking to CO's
Since you haven't gotten a reply from someone yet, I'll pipe in with my kind of related experience...
I haven't talked to game officers about this stuff, but I've talked to fish officers several times. I just call the district office of the area I'm going to fish in and ask for the man or woman who covers the area I'm interested in. They always are willing to talk and seem to be genuinely interested in helping and giving whatever info they have. I'd suggest just calling the office and giving it a try.

Standard find the deer moves are: with respect to talking to people
Talk to the CO.
Talk to the mailman he travels all the local roads each day, where does he see them cross the road or see road kills.
Same for local police they go to deer car accidents and travel all the roads at night and know where they cross.
The local dog catcher or equivalent may have some info also.
