well first off i would like to say that i've never really been a big fan of the pennsylvania game commission but i will be the first to admit that i think their plan is working. when they changed the antler restrictions to atleast 3-4 points on one side, depending on the area you are hunting in, i was not only upset but downright mad. i was to the point that i was ready to quit hunting all together. "i have a hard enough time putting horns on them to begin with" i said "now you have to sit there and count the points!". well i was wrong, it made me pay more attention to what i was shooting at for one thing and now that the law has been into effect for a couple of years now i've been seeing some huge racks and bigger and older deer.................which i've never seen in this area of pennsylvania before. i'm glad that they changed the antler restrictions, let's just hope they keep it that way.

I wish I could say the same. I'm not hunting ,but I do alot of spotting around my house and I never seen so many spikes in my life in the SE corner of the state in the agricultural area. On a piece of property this morning I seen 1 8 pt about 14 inch spread 4 little basket racks and 3 spikes about 2 to 3 inches long. And this place was always a big buck hang out. Not sure whats going on????

i think that's quite a few bucks (big or small) in one area, i bet there wouldn't be that many if the old law was still in effect. just wait until those spikes and basket racks grow a few more years

I wish New York would also follow suit. A couple of guys I know have a lease on the Pa border of New York and they have seen some real nice bucks.

Nontypical Buck
I haven't noticed the size of the bucks going up but I have been seeing more bucks. We hunt on private land with hardly any pressure so I'm not sure that restrictions had anything to do with it.

I like it. The quality of the bucks do seem to be getting better. Saw a nice 10 pt last night. I was just getting ready to leave my stand. 20 yds, and never gave me a good shot. I'll be spending some more time in that area for sure.
