Oh NO!!!!!!!!!

:(My brother called in to get the permits we need to hunt on the property we hunt on, but they said they arent giving out permits anymore. That was the only place we had to hunt on[:o]. I have no idea what im going to do now, ITs Virtually IMPOSSIBLE to get permission from ANYONE around here, and my brother wont drive 50 miles to go hunting, so Im out of ideas. I just got my buck tags last week and i was ready, but im at a HUGE loss now, I just dont know what to do now[:o]

Eric ,
where are you located ?

The odds are excellent that there is an overlooked small public land patch near you , look them up with the topo map feature on TerraServer or other such website . I started doing this over 4 years ago and found all kinds of free places to go , some within a very short drive .

BTW , if your brother is your only way to get around you might want to reconsider getting that license and buy a car or pick up .

HDW ,
that list doesn't show all of the public properties which is why I suggested a topo site . That list is just the major properties , mostly WMAs etc. .

The ones I'm talking about are as small as a few acres to several hundred acres . One of the ones I hunt is 6 miles from my house , has 395 acres of hardwoods , and I usually only see one other hunter's tracks . In my state public land has an undeserved reputation for being crowded , but don't tell anyone ... ;)

I drive 100 miles each way to hunt. I do it sometimes for just one visit to the woods. The drive is no biggy.:D:D
