RE: do lures really work?
I think that scents have there place and time. For elk hunting i swear by my elk fire scent. My hunting partner uses the scent also and has had a cow come in and pick up the bottle in her mouth and throw it back on herself, while this was goin on he arrowed her. I have used the scent 2 years and have 2 elk so it certainly don't hurt anything. For deer i am still experimenting a bit. I picked up some tarsal gland scent and sprayed a little of that on some taller grass while i was bowhunting whitetail. I had a bunch of does come in and stop right at that spot and sniff it out. One of the girls urinated right on the spot. Every deer that came in that night stopped and gave it a sniff. If that big buck would have came in he would have stopped and sniffed that area, he would have been 20 yards away with his head down, giving me a chance to draw. If it stops the deer where i want him and distracts him so i can draw it has done its job. I don't count on the scents to really bring animals in from far away but rather get them into an area i want for a shot.

RE: do lures really work?
Until a year ago, I would have agreed with the guys saying for the most part lures are a hoax. Last year my taxidermist told me about a new scent product he uses. He too had come to the conclusion that all others did more harm than good most times. It's called G-Bow Scents, and they're great. Instead of a mature doe getting spooky at the smell of a scent, it actually seemed to put her at ease. Also, they have a contest going this year, and it could be BIG money to someone if they could pull down a state or world record. They have a website..... http://www.gbowhunting.com/ Check it out.

RE: do lures really work?
I dont really plan on BUYING urine this year. B/C we hunt deer (the wild ones) and raise 16 deer in a pen. So we are going to be collecting urine this year and that is what I plan on using. So then I know for sure it is 100% doe -in-heat. Then the big boys will be coming around my stand.:)
