Box Blind
Just made a box blind, has anyone used one? Do the deer stay clear of them? Will they get used to it being there by the season start?
Thanks! ![]() |
RE: Box Blind
Looks like a quality stand and even if you dont get a deer you'll be comfortable. I would have put it nearer to some cover to break up the outline, but the deer should get used to it in good time. one ? about how much did it cost to make?

RE: Box Blind
Probably be OK. Next time you build one if you take some 1/4" cable and some old house trailer anchors to tie it down with it may be an easier job.

RE: Box Blind
Cost around $250 and alot of work. not much more cover on my property all looks pretty much the same but from this vantage point I can see far in all directions. Already have the cable and anchors but have not installed yet.

RE: Box Blind
The deer will eventually become accustomed to it. You don't say how long until your season starts.
Once you have it set up how you like, I'd avoid "visiting it" as much as possible until the season starts. |
RE: Box Blind
Rifle Season starts Nov. 13 in Missouri, Bow season starts this Wed. but I will not be hunting bow out of this blind.

2 months?
They'll never know what hit 'em!;) |
RE: Box Blind
I've had deer nearly walk under mine before. They get used to it being there, they will be cautious though, so make sure they can't see you in the windows!

RE: Box Blind
You've got plenty of time before your season starts for the deer to get used to it.

RE: Box Blind
That type of blind is pretty much the standard method of hunting in most of Texas and we kill alot of deer. They will walk right by it in time. They will also look at it carefully if they hear or smell you so wear a camo facemask. You can place it right in the middle of a field and kill deer no problem.
