First Hunt of 04 last evening........
 

Tried my hand at archery deer for the first time in 2004 last eveving. Had 5 does and a smaller 5x4 come by the stand and feed 10 yards out from my stand. My big boy that i have been scouting all summer never did show, but i still had alot of fun. Even those ol does close to me was enough to get the blood pumping. Going out again Monday night to see if the big boy will play ball. Looks like its going to be another great season. Best of luck to everyone...

Sure kat the more the merrier. We have a bit of a doe population problem here i think. Too many head hunters and not enough meat hunters. Something i am as guilty of as anyone. Can't go out hunting or even driving to town without seeing a doe or just about t-boning her with the truck. Was out again this weekend but no sightings of my buck. However i did find some nice rubs within 200 yards of my stand. Not sure if it was my buck or that little guy but i am hopeful.

Hiawatha, Great way to open the season. Getting deer close is half the fun of bow hunting. Picking the right deer to send an arrow at is the other half of the fun for me. Can you shoot a doe and a buck or is it oneor the other. Where I hunt I can buy unlimited doe tags so I can take the thinning on myself and still hold out for the right buck. Either way it having fun that counts. Good luck this evening. Hopefully you'll get you shot at mossy horns soon;)

we can get 2 either sex tags and a antlerless tag. So if the mood strikes me i could take 3 does if i wanted but to arrow a doe here doesn't take alot of intelligence. Even though i'm not going to shootem i still love watching them especially with their little ones. Nice to have a few does hanging around the stand cause it seems to put the bucks at ease.
