was sighting in my shotgun need help

I dont know what I am doing wrong. Last year my shotgun was sighted in. I cant seem to hit my darn target. I only hit it a few times and I shot alot of rounds. Once I do hit my target my group is pretty tight. It just seems like most of my hits go somewhere I have no idea. I am shooting 50 yards away. The target paper I am shooting at is about the size of two note book papers. I aim for the center it seems most of my shoots never hit the center or even the paper. What am I doing wrong?

get closer. how much closer?? until you are hitting every time. are you useing a scope? if so check and make sure it is not losse or anything. if there isn't a scope i would bring it to a gunsmith

let us know when u get it shooting deadly again

try shooting at a closer distance where it hits the paper and see where its actually shooting then adjust it from there.

First, get it boresighted if you have a scope on it. then, shoot at 25 yards and then go from there.

Is your barrel rifled or smooth? that can make a big difference sometimes and what brand of slug are you shooting?

A few ???'s

1. Rifled or smooth barrel?

2. Scope or rifled sights?

3. What slugs?

4. Are you letting the barrel cool down between shots?

5. Have you cleaned the barrel at all?

6. What type of rest are you using? Is the forearm or the barrel sitting on the rest?

Many different factors. Could be anything.
