How do these deer nmbers look 2 U?
 

I contacted my local DNR office to get some deer numbers for the area I hunt.

This is what they said:

Buck to Doe Ratio : 1:1.5 to 1: 2.5
Population: 8-10 deer / square mile

How do these number sound to you?

Not very good. Our land has 45+ deer per sq. mile per this web site...........

8-10 per square mile isn't bad , we also have 30-45 here .

According to this website, my area contains 30-45 deer per sq. mi. That seems like a large discrepancy to me. Of course I'd rather believe the info on the website you have provided.

It completely depends on where in the country you're located. Your buck/doe ratio loog pretty good. Definately better then in Maine. Your deer per sq mile looks good for Maine or New Hampshire. If you were in Texas or MD the deer per sq mile would be low but that sounds right for MI.

they said 15-30 for our area in wisconsin, which i believe, but across the river in iowa it said the same. thats a load of crap. theres 3 times as many deer over there..

I don't know how accurate that map is because I have 20 -40 deer each hunt forget the square mile.

I know there are some inaccuracies in that map. My areas hold much more deer than they are saying.
