Annabelle & Eddie (Buck in the Truck)

Annabelle said to Eddie, there’s a full moon tonight
go get your rifle and I’ll grab my light
the freezer is near empty dear and I’d like some venison steak
so let’s hunt these back roads from now til daybreak

Annabelle said to Eddie, look over there I see a deer
go ahead and take a shot, I’m sure the coast is clear
So Eddie raised his 30-30 and fired a single round
and the buck dropped like a stone, heavy to the ground

Annabelle said to Eddie, there’s a car comin’ round the bend
let’s get this buck into the trunk or this will come to a bad end
so Annabelle grabbed the antlers, and Eddie the heavy hind
and they got the buck into the trunk just in the nick of time

Annabelle said to Eddie, turn the radio down
I swear I heard something, some sort of thumping sound
then Eddie heard it too, and then there was no doubt
the buck in the trunk was alive and well, and tryin’ to get out

Annabelle said to Eddie, I have the perfect plan
we’ll drive the car into the barn do you understand
we let that deer settle down, give it some time to tire
and when I open the trunk, you open fire

Annabelle said to Eddie, get ready my good man
Eddie was steady, but his rifle jammed
the buck saw it’s chance, it jumped out of the trunk and ran
right through the barn door, and back to free land

Annabelle said to Eddie, there’s a full moon tonight
this time I get the rifle, and you hold the light
the freezer is now empty dear and I’d like some venison steak
so let’s hunt these backroads from now til daybreak
