Acorns falling already...

Went to check game cams Saturday and was totally shocked to find several red oaks dropping big ol' acorns.I dont think I have ever seen them fall this early.Maybe now the cams will get some pics on them for it has been a slow slow summer for buck pics...

If you have white oaks in your area find them and watch em. Deer will stroll right past big stands of red oaks just to get the white acorns. Red acorns contain a tannic acid that deer do not prefer.

How can you tell the difference between the Red and White Oaks???

I have a number of Oaks along a trail that I thought of placing mock scrape and a stand in or around.
I Pulled a leaf from the tree to see if it had anything to distinguish between the Red and White.
I still have not found any info on them though.

Any help would be great.

I am looking at late season feeding due to all of my hunting areas I had scouted last year, the main food supplies(crops) were not replanted this year. Took a big chunk of my prosperous area's out.

red oaks have pointed edge leafs where the whites have a rounded outer edge to the leaf.;)
