Homeade Feeders

Baiting is legal where I hunt.

I just purchased 80 acres with Federal Land on 2 sides. I'd like to put a 1/2 dozen or so feeders on the property. Does anyone have ideas?

Free choice feeder. Take a 5 gallon bucket with lid, cut a 1 inch tall by 3 inch wide hole in the side at the bottom of the bucket. Affix (screw) a 1x12 board to the bottom of the bucket so that the board sticks out about 10 inches from the hole forming a shelf. Trim the edges of your shelf with quarter round trim or 1x2. Suspend the bucket from a stout tree limb so that the feeder shelf is about 38 to 42 inches from the ground. I WIRE a pulley wheel to the tree limb and thread the rope thru the pulley wheel to make the lifting process easy. I use wire (about 18-24 inches from limb) because critters chew the rope.

Here's one made from a pickel barrel with a screw on top. I bought a feed spinner for $32.99 and had a top made for it. I holds 300# of corn. http://www.advanceddesignsinc.com/images/Feeder.jpg

Buy a bunch of 4" PVC, some 45 elbows and some end caps. Strap them to a tree, and if you make each one about 5-6" long, you can make a whole lot of feeders for $100.

If you want more capacity, go to 5", and use a reducer on the end so the feed doesn't spill out so fast.
