climber stand

I bought a climber stand at walmart. I am haveing a bit of a problem. I can climb up the tree without any trouble, but climbinging down the tree is a bit tricky. My problem is the bottom part where you strap your feet in I cant move it down the tree. The only way I have found to move it down is to reach my hand down pull up then my feet can guide it down the tree. Is there a trick to useing these climbers?

You have to tilt your feet forward when you pick the bottom piece up. This will do the same thing as you reaching down with your hand and picking it up.

Lower the upper level (seat) to a comfortable height to support most of your weight - I like about hip height - then push your feet in towards the tree and tip your toes up, the bottom will release & you let it down to the distance you feel comfortable lowering your weight to. Near as I remember I usually do about a foot or slightly more at a time.

Thanks for posting this, I'm buying one this fall. I have seen them climb but not come down...............which is just as important if not more, the getting down part.

Make sure you have a rope tying the two parts of the stand together in case the bottom part slips off your boots.
