watching for deer
 

Sometimes during the evening I go to the woods I hunt park my truck right by the woods sit there and watch for deer. Does sitting there scare the deer?

It depends, how far away from them you are and the wind. In reality deer will actually get used to a vehicle being parked in a certain spot as long as it is there most of the time and they are never spooked by it (Like someone starting it or playing a radio or getting in and out all the time.)

I agree with TAZ. Deer will get accostomed to their environment even when it includes people and vehicles. If and when they are threatened is when I would expect the deer to move away.

deer a curious animals, heck one might even come up to see what your doing;)

I do alot of scouting out my truck window. They are pretty used to seeing vehicals everywhere in the states. Mabey they get a littlte spooky where you are parking and watching them, but unless you plan on hanging your stand right next to the parking lot, I don't see a problem.

Deer know when and where scent, vehicles and people should be and where they shouldn't be. One tract of hunting land of mine butts up to a golf course. There are people drinking beer, peeing in the woods next to holes, driving golf carts, yelling swearing etc.... and deer still use that land all the time. They know what's going on and they live with it. Now if someone goes into a deer's bedding area and does the same thing they did on the golf course....that will scare them out. They know stuff like that shouldn't be happening there. Hope that makes a little sense. So no, I don't think what your doing will scare the deer one bit. As long as your not driving one mile back through their core area to get there.
