ORIGINAL: j3k2c1

an antelope one shot clean kill at 425 yards (rangefinder).

I would do that again. I did it standing with no support, so I would feel very secure repeating that.

Either that was some major luck for you or BS.

Standing with no support?????

What caliber/rifle/optics/?? What was the wind and weather cond?

I don't use magnification, so until last year, I would have said the longest shot I'd take at a standing deer would be 150 yds. However, after passing on a deer at 200 yds, I was convinced by my buddies to try that shot if it ever happened again. Two days later a small buck ran out into a beaver meadow and stopped fopr me at about 175 yds, and I managed to make the shot.

What caliber/rifle/optics/?
It was a .270 bolt-action, 115 grain Hornady's, and a 7x Leupold scope. It was a great shot. I practice on ranges with this stuff out to 600 yards, and standing has always been my most accurate shooting position. And BTW, if you can find a good rest besides a bipod/tri in public land antelope country, let me know.

363 yards on a nice 8 pt Whitetail. Didn't know the distance until the following year when I bought my rangefinder. Anything over 400 yards to me is crazy or you need at least a 12 power scope and a bean field rifle. Deer looked small in my 3 x 9 Leopold. By the way 7 mm Mag Ruger M 77 with 160 grain nosler partition. Rifle was sighted in for 250 yds. I don't avocate shots over 200 yards to anyone but those who shoot a lot.

farthest was 180 yet that was because my cusin gut shot it his stand was about 300 yards to my right. when i heard the shot i naturally looked over and though i couldn't see my cusin i knew where he was and when i saw the deer lipping my way i waited until i had a good safe shot and i hit him in the neck with my 243. other then that my other 4 deer where taken at under 70 yards.
bow- i only killed one with a bow it was a doe at 13 yards

i feel i could kill a deer out to 250 with my 243 because i pratice so much and i have killed a couple coyotes at that range yet i would wait for a closer shot

320 yrds. It was a one shot kill on a doe. I was using a Browning A Bolt II chambered in 30-06, topped with a 6 power Leopold scope, and using 165gr Hornady BTSP bullet in a handload. The shot was taken from the standing position.

Seated on the ground, I took a doe at a touch over 400 yards with my 700 in .270 with a 4-14X44 Zeiss Conquest in no wind and a little downhill from me, she ran about 30 yards. I was using shooting sticks and had watched them for 5 mintues or more when I took the shot.

The longest shot I have taken was 110 yds. Dropped a doe in her tracks. Taken with a 12 ga. slug, rifled barrel, w/scope. The longest I would attempt is 125 yds. Provided I have a good rest.

The farthest I shot a deer was 20 yards with a .35 Whelen. In response to how far would I shoot is how far I feel comfortable so about 150-175 yards.

my farthest shot so far was 297 with my 223 rem Dropped teh deer on the spot with a center lung shot. I have since retired the 223 and now use a 6mm rem. I will try a shot out to 400yds if the conditions are right. Farthest bow kill was 47yds.
