What is the longest that you have shot a deer/would shoot

RE: What is the longest that you have shot a deer/would shoot
My longest shot at a deer so far is 265 paces. Double lung hit, she only ran about 30 yards before dropping, adrenaline... I would easily take a shot at a deer out to 350 yards, possible 400 depending on weather conditions. I'm not a fan of real long shots, but if a buck or a nice fat doe steps out there at long range and I'm hunting with my .270 I won't be afraid to take it.

How many yards was your farthest deer hit? How far would you shoot?
How far would I? 300yds. in pers. max. range. Hey, it's called "hunting".
Avg. range now: about 40yds. on last two deer.

back before the wife and kid and I'ld put 1000 rounds a month down range, I took a muley buck at 425yrd, Now I use a 45-70 with iron sights most of the time and 150yrd is the limit.

My farthest shot was 427 yards with my 7mm Rem. Mag. I had paced it out. Most of my shots are usually under 100 yards but I wouldn’t hesitate to shot up to 300 yards.

I don't shoot at anything moving or that im not sure i can kill with the first shot. I judge a good hunter on how short a shot he can make and not how long. I try to keep bow at 20 to 25 and gun normally at 50. Beyond that I can't tell what is behind the deer or if its moving the same problem so those shots are passed and I'll wait till tomorrow. The worst thing that can happen in the field is to wound something and not recover it or make it suffer. So far after 50 years I've never lost an animal and never had to track one over a few yards.

No one's going to trash the 50 yd head shot???????
My longest was with a shot gun, 90yds with a rest.
20yds with a bow.
One other time I shot a wounded doe (I knew it was severly wounded) at about 150 yds with open sighted 12 ga - a messy finishing shot was still required at close range, it is not a very good memory.
I do not advocate hail mary shots, and while I'm 100% sure many can skillfully place a .270 at 300yds+, I'm afraid others just chuck lead (or arrows), if it hits - and they actually kill the animal, a legend is born. We do not need to promote that kind of hunting here!

I'd go out to 400+ without worry...but to date my longest is a hair over 200 yds, twice. Both times neck shots immediate stops on both animals. One was a prone shot and the other an off hand standing.
