I feel pretty comfortable at 150 yards.

Bow: I'd say i would like to shoot at 40 yards max
Gun: as long as i think i can take the shot safely but not more more then 200 yards

I actually shot an hog at 275 yards but it was down in an gully

With my new gun I would push the 300 yd limit!

The longest shot so far was my first deer, a spike, at 70 yards. I hit a little high and to the right, which hapened to be his neck. He never got up again. Also, this was with open sights, shooting a Mossberg slug gun 12 gauge, a slug, from a tree stand. Now I have and use a Savage a 30-06, but still remember my first with the shotgun.

I would only shoot max out to 100 yards, since that is what I sight my guns to.

500 yards with a savage tactical 308.

I am comfortable out to 350 but I prefer them to be as close as possible......small chance of error. I am gettin old lol

shooting a deer with a shotgun i would probly try out to 75 yards the longest i have killed a deer is 40. with a bow i might shoot out to 35 but i am more comfortable with 30

With a bow.....27 yards. With a rifle....about 150. I did not have the rangefinder at the time so that is an approximation.

I don't like to shoot at deer at much more than 250 yards. That would be with a dead solid rest in country where I know the terrain and there is some open country between the deer and heavy cover. I have shot and killed deer at a touch over 300 yards on a couple of occassions. This with my 6.5X55 mauser. I have passed up many many shots at longer range as I see no reason to take iffy shots at real game animals. I save that kind of shooting for targets. 300 yards is about Max for me. 90 percent of the deer I have taken have been at 200 yard s + or - 25 yards. Most of my deer hunting is on the prarie.

i like to get up close and personal:D.....17 yards is the longest....but i have only 2 bucks and no does under me, so i'm sure that will change:)
a friend of mine was trying to talk me into going to the gun range and shooting some long distance shots and i will, just so i can see how i do, but i think i'll stay with the closeness when it comes to hunting....
