I wouldn't tell anybody not to use a mat or other substance on a treestand....only to be careful about it....can't be too careful in the air.....and of course..a safety harness is ALWAYS a must.

Looks like I will have to buy several pairs of polypro liners and several pairs of wool outers, one for each day I hunt. At camp, there are no washers and dryers. No big deal, but it is more of a pain with wool outers and polypro liners, because you can't put either in a dryer, right? Also, is it ok for the rest of the foot to be tight around the sides in the shoe (I will undo my laces to loosen it up), as long as the TOES have room?

Once again, thanks for all the advice!

Doug, depends how tight your talking. Personally for warmth I don't want slop but still want room. My boots all fit about the same while I can feel the sides or top, I still can move my feet without discomfort. Possibly a better way is put your socks on, then strap on the boots for 15 minutes and remove, if you have markings on your feet from pressure IMHO they are too snug. If you are bit snug try removing the insole and replace it with a thinner diameter one.

As to a dryer I have done both the key is heat. If I need to dry mine in a dryer I simple put on delicate in a tumble which is relatively low heat in our dryer - more so for woolie's as the poly pro stuff dries very quickly on its own.
