I won't be using anything new. but the configuration will be different. My 8mm/06 needs a little work, and while it's in (dropping it off next week) I'm going to ask my smith to drill and tap it for a scope. I have a Redfield Tracker in 2X7X33 that I will place atop it and it already sports a nice lyman peep at theaft. I'm hoping he'll agree to drill and tap it even though it wears the received sight. I thinkg there is room to remove the scope if i use quick detachable mounts, and still be able to slid the receiver sight back in should i experience porblems with the scope.
A scope on my old 8mm/06 will be new to me. Iron sights were fine up until about 7 years ago when my eyes began to fade.
