Ready for Deer Season.
I have spent the last four or five evenings reloading shells. I usually Wait until the last minute then try to get my reloading done or end up buying a box of factory loads. This year however I am all set already as I loaded two boxes each for the 257 Roberts, 250 Savage, 260, 6.5x55. 280, 308 and 30-06. I still have 45-70 and 44 Mag to do but I shoot those to a lot all summer so its an ongoing thing. As you can see, I have no shortage of good deer rifles. I still have a couple on lawaway. I am a gun nut to say the least. I am trying a new load for my 308 A Bolt. I picked up a box of Nosler Partitions and a can of Varget. I am shooting Hornady interlocks in the 257 Robert and 125 grain Nosler Partition in the 260. Nosler 100 Gr. Ballistic tips in the 250 Savage and Sierra Pro-hunter bullets in the rest of these rifles. I also Loaded 165 grain Speer Grand Slams for a possable Moose and bear hunt with the 30-06 or 405 grain cast bullets in the 45-70. NOW I AM READY TO START FISHING!!!

RE: Ready for Deer Season.
I am ready to go up to the woods and do some scouting and fishing too!
I just got off of 28 straight night shifts, totally missed the spawning season! Now my wife will be having surgery on her arm, so on my days off, I'll be the maid for a few weeks! The way this year has been flying by, by the time she is healed, it will be time to start getting ready for hunting! |
RE: Ready for Deer Season.
My wife just recently got off about a year of those damn night shifts. Now I am having trouble getting back into the swing of the day shift. Fishing will help. I may have to fine tune a few of my loads. I am going out today for a range session.

RE: Ready for Deer Season.
Shot the 260 load today. 44.0 grains of H414 with a WW magnum primer. It shot well and averaged 2893 fps from the 22 inch barrel of my All Weather Ruger. My 308 load was 47 grains of Varget with standard ww primer. This load clocked 2729 fps average. 22 inch barrel, Browning A-Bolt light weight stalker. These should both be good deer loads for this fall.
