180" net 8 pt @ dixie deer classic

Anybody see the 180 inch net 8 pt @ the DDC? I just read about it in the paper yesterday. Some fella found the rack hanging in an old building and had it scored. Supposta been killed in VA some years ago. Musta been some DOOZIE of an 8 pt.

That is an absolute moster for an 8pt!!!! I love to see pics of that. He just has to have crazy mass and a ton of length to be that big!!

Don't have any pics. Just read about it in the paper. I have seen the "best gun" rack. Big, massive 14 pt. Quite a deer for this area (central NC). I thought it was a Montana/Sask. rack when I saw it.
Does DDC have a website?

Don't have pics...Just read about it in the paper. Didn't get to go this year. I did see the big 14 pt. that took the best gun category. Very massive. Quite a deer for this area (central NC).

This typical 8-pointer had a spread just under 27 inches and both main beams were about 32 inches long. Only had 2 5/8 inches of deductions, the rack will rank as the second-biggest 8-pointer ever scored, only 3/8 under the current world-record 8-pointer.

Hey Creekhobo: Is this pic of the 8 pt in question or another very large rack?

Thanks rwilson

That deer is no where near 180.

Lets look at the numbers(liberal estimates)

27 inch spread
32 inch main beams
6 inch G1
6 inch G1
12 inch G2
12 inch G2
8 inch G3
8 inch G3
30 inches of mass

165, being VERY liberal. I would say that deer is closer to 155.

ya i also have a hard time believing this deer went 180, i have a fairly large 4 pointer here which ain't much smaller than that one. This one i have may not be as wide but he has alot more mass, which adds up nice. I haven't scored him but i think he would be around the 160 mark. I will take a pic of him here on of these days and throw it up on the boards for viewing.

Yes, rwilson this is the rack that was at the Dixie Deer Classic. It won the President's Award. It was found nailed to a wall inside an old building or barn. It had been there awhile. It looked old and may have been the world-record 8-point at the time it was killed.

Thanks, creekhobo.
Don't know about all the flak about whether it scored this or that. Just said that the DDC scored it 180.

I'm not trying to stir up a ruckus but I'll not believe that deer in the photo will score 180 until I witness it being scored myself. It just doesn't look like a 180 class deer to me. I will eat my helping of crow if it's ever proven, until them I ain't buyin. I believe it's possible for an 8pt to score 180, I just don't think that's it. JMO

I believe it is possible. Add a couple of inches to the measurements of Creeks and there you have it.

Here is a buck that was killed in East Texas this past deer season. He is an 8pt. that scores 172"+. There were two 170"+ 8 point bucks killed in the same county a few miles apart from each other in East Texas this past deer season. I cant find the picture of the other one.

If anybody can post the picture, I would apprecitate it. you can go to http://www.texasbiggameawards.com and see this buck(look under region 6) plus you can see all the other big whitetails, muledeer, and pronghorn antelope that were killed in Tx this past season.

Hmmmm, his main beam almost look as long as that feller's forearm, however it doesnt look to have the mass and tine length to net 180. Maybe high 150's.

Now that pic with the two fella's holding that big 8pt, he might be 180, but not the rack with the skull cap.

I was just about to say that the pic of the buck in question can be very deceiving , especially when held by two people.

After seeing the last pic I have no reason to doubt that he scored 180".

Very impressive!

In the first picture, that deer didn't look like it had any meat to it. ... in the second picture those bases look twice as thick.

I don't care how many inches it has .. that is 1 awesome rack! Great character and shape.
