Man Finds 'Male' Deer Carrying Unborn Fawn
Biologist Says Such Animals Rare, Not Unheard-Of

POSTED: 8:22 a.m. EST February 15, 2002
UPDATED: 8:35 a.m. EST February 15, 2002

BENTON, N.H. -- A Benton man has a good story to tell about a roadkill deer he found the other night.

Jeremy Lamarre got permission from authorities to take the deer home.

It looked like a good-sized buck, with small antlers and male sexual organs.

But when he started to dress it, Lamarre discovered it was carrying an unborn fawn.

Animals with male and female characteristics are rare, but not unheard of, a state biologist says.

He says he's never seen a deer quite like this in New Hampshire.

Be very careful when in the woods around that area. The buck that impregnated that other buck might still be out there. Watch your back!<img src=icon_smile_shock.gif border=0 align=middle>

A relative of mine shot a 3pt doe one day. It wasn't pregnant but still had antlers, they were still in velvet.
