While tending the horses tonight I walked out of the barn to my truck to get something. My phone rang. I'm yacking away and see two deer coming out of the woods 100 yards away. They saw me and just stared not making a move. After watching them for a bit, I turned to my right and there are 3 deer I didn't notice standing in the pasture not 60 yards away. They saw me too. I finished my call and decided I'd have some fun. I was wearing barn gear - tan Carhart bibs and a black Carhart coat. I walked directly to them with no cover behind me besides the barn and no cover in front of me. All five deer were now in the same part of the pasture I was approaching. They'd all look up, I'd stop, heads down I'd walk, heads up I'd stop..... I got within bow range of these deer. They were up wind but could see me plain as day. Of course, they never saw me move. Then my phone rang and they walked away, tails down. If only it were this easy during season. Funny how calm deer are at certain times of the year.

all deer have a calender of the hunting seasons and when not in season are suprisingly calm
