Weird Deer in New Hampshire

The linked article appeared today in the Manchester Union Leader newspaper here. It is quite amazing. Anyone else ever hear of this happening? If you do let us know.

The butcher I take my deer to has a billboard where he puts all deer articles from the newspaper. He has one that tells a similar story about a hunter who shot what he thought was a buck (it had antlers), it turned out to be a doe with antlers, but I can't remember if it had both male and female sex organs or just the female organs.

Believe it or not, a friend of mine shot not 1 but 2 antlered does in his lifetime. Both were shot on the same farm about 6-7 years apart. Both were shot in November and both were still in velvet. He said the meat was terrible. Not sure if it had to do with what they were eating or their mixed up hormones.

I'm not surprised at a hermaphrodite deer, Im just a little surprised that a buck would mate with a racked deer. I guess they aren't joking when they talk about the power of the scent of esterous.

What I don't get is, if the buck had no female parts, how did it become impregnated? Obviously, this was a homosexual act on the part of two bucks. I'd steer clear of that neck of the woods! At the least, don't turn your back on any buck!

A few years ago, while working at a registration station, we had two come in 30 minutes apart. They were still in velvet in late November. hermaphrodites is a natural occurance, it even happens to 1:10,000 humans also.

Are you sure about 1 in 10,000 people born with both sex organs? That would mean that about 25,000 to 30,000 Americans were born with both sex organs. I can't see it happening. Please post proof. Thanks.
