Dark Piebald

I have seen piebald deer before but not one this dark. I think its a small spike. I have another photo where they are just barely visable. In any case thats definately not his scrape and rub in the foreground.

Very strange indeed! I've never seen one that dark before. Note that it's back legs are the real color of a deer!?

WOW!!!! Thats cool!! A melanistic piebald!! I have never heard of that happening. You should send the pic to your department of natural resources and see what they say.

I have a photo of the deer that made that rub and he is a moose. He's still out there walking somewhere too. I will try to post it but I've been having trouble posting photos here lately. Sometimes they don't show up and even when I can see them some people still can't.

i may be wrong, but it looks to me that he is mostly standing in a shadow. and his back leg is in that spot of light. thats what makes it lighter. i may be wrong though. i would like to see the other pic.

plus, it doesnt make sense, the lack and the surplus of pigment in one animal. i would say that the chances of that are astronimical.
