Are hogs a problem
 

I have some about 400achers that has lots of deer on it. The last few years it has had some very good hunting on it. At the end of this deer season I notice the hogs moving in. One day I counted over a hundred in a field. I have a friend who has some land not far from mine, he told me when the hogs moved in the deer went else where. My question is; has any one else had this happen and do hogs run your deer off? If so what can be done about it ?

I have a video that has hogs and deer in the same field. i videoed it . some deer did leave they just stood and looked at those hogs and did not want to associate with them.others stayed. but i am with bennettredneck if you need help just ask. i would be happy to come on down and help you take care of those bbq on the hooves. no charge! my treat.

<font color=maroon> <font face='Comic Sans MS'>Hogs are definitely a problem here. It is nothing to see 20-30 hogs come to a feeder and they do run the deer off. I saw a pig run a nice 10-pointer away. When the doe that was with the buck kept hanging around the feeder, the hog chased her off. I declared war on them this year after they rooted underneath a 4-foot concrete water trough and made it flip over. I was hoping there was one under it. LOL. They're a da## nuisance on our place.

Yep, hogs are a problem. There is however a grand solution. Give me a call and I will come get rid of as many as I can fit into my freezer. Between me and a few other guys, we should be able to keep them in check.

So you have the same problem. My land is on the Brazos and for years the hogs stayed down on the river. This year they left the river and started coming up to my feeders. I have one feeder that has been concreted in the ground and is supported by 3inch. oilfield pipe. The little S.O.B.s dug it up and distroyed the whole feeder. I have shoot as many as my freezer can hold which didnt make a dent in the population. One day a friend of mine and I set out and counted over a hundred in one of my best fields tearing everything up. I shoot three of them and my friend shoot three. Im just afraid that they are going to mess with the deers. I have a really good deer population on this land and I hope the hogs dont make them move on.

Kently, there is a guy in Seymour who traps and sells them to a slaughterhouse near San Antonio. They sell the meat in Europe and I heard it is higher than beef there. I can get his name for you if you want. A friend of mine's place in Centerville Tx had several hogs. He filled seeveral freezers, but it got to the point where they shot them and left them laying just to be rid of them. They kept tearing up his fences and the cows were breaking their legs in the furrows. I'll come help too if you need it.

I ALSO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. WHEN THE ACORNS START TO FALL THE PIGS LEAVE THE CREEKS TO FIND THE &quot;OAKS CANDY&quot;. THIS YEAR WE HAVE SEEN WAY TOO MANY HOGS, MAYBE BECAUSE OF THE ACORN BUMPER CROP. WHENEVER WE SEE HOGS WE DON'T SEE MANY DEER.

<font color=maroon>I can't think of the name of the place in Devine that buys hogs. The manager is a friend of mine-Glen Urban. They give a premium for bigger hogs. The only problem with trapping and selling them is that you have to have a place to hold them until you get enough together for a trip.
I usually take pigs to a little community nearby. They clean them and then distribute the meat among some of the families. By the end of the deer season, they hated to see me coming. LOL.
Another problem is that you can never find one when you need one to help make your deer sausage. <img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>
