I got a bushnell Yardage Pro 1000 for christmas 2 years ago and it's 1 of the greatest things.

Two beards,
I was wondering that myself. My 400 has so far only ranged to 330 yds. I have a long field and had to take 2 readings to cover the 450yds. plus of the length from my stand. But that's no problem, I'm only sure of myself to 300 yds.

I have hunted with my bushnell 800 compact for two years. I use it more for my black powder than anything. The optics aren't the greatest. I have learned for long ranges I will range something close to it or on the trail. I don't thing I could range a deer at 500 yds.

My experience with the Buckmasters 400 is great! I absolutely love its compact size for bowhunting. If you want more distance go with the 800.
The quality of this unit is great. Good, consistent readings, and did I mention it is compact! I personally liked the feel of it better than the comparable Scout from Bushnell.
