Yes they do kind of a crawl or croach. I have seen whitetail do it. Never a Mule Deer however.

Yes, they'll do that. They will use any and all types of terrain to their advantage and will crawl when necessary. Last year, we had a nice buck that would lay down in a mud hole when being pushed by dogs. No one ever did kill him for the last 2 years.

I have seen plenty of does do that in farmland.

I have seen more whitetails do this but have seen the odd big bruiser muley pull this out of his bag of tricks as well. I also might add I have never seen a doe, fawn or young buck pull off the belly crawl, but plenty of mature bucks in certain terrains seem to be masters at it[:@]

They do that in my neck of the woods as well. Their backs are only about a foot off the ground.

:) Sounds crazzy. I personaly have never witnessed this. My uncle, who passed away this year told me a story about a buck he bagged. Apparently the slick buck was crawling on the opposite side of a rock wall. My uncle heard a twig snap an out curiocity he looked over the wall an there it was lol. :D

I've even read about a buck that resorted to crawling into a drainage culvert when the pressure was on. The culvert had a 2 foot diameter, so he must have done some crawling to get in there!
