What is you favorite deer gun? Since I have never used a rifle for deer because I live in Ohio I'll say a 870 wingMaster with a slug barrel. Or a Tradtioins .50 cal muzzeloader

My Mossberg 500 with the rifled barrel. It is accurate and I cant use a rifle here in Iowa anyway.

I shoot a 7mm rem mag and I am very fond of it. I love the speed and hittin power of that rifle. I have shot a few deer and even elk from a fair distance away and still dropped em like nobodies business. I like the gun cause its very versatile i use it for all my big game hunting.

My favorite gun is a savage 99a in 250-3000.I have a 2x-7x leupold varx II mounted on it and it shoots winchester 100 gr silvertips factory loads THE BEST.

My favorite deer gun is my Winchester M70 7MM RM.

Sam I picked up anold magazine today and found a good artice with the Savage 99 250-3000. Sure sounds like a good deer gun! Too bad they don't make them anymore. The article said that they were too labor-intense, and thus unprofitable to produce, so its unlikely they will ever bring it back either!

sam 444. I agree with you on the WW-silver tip loads for the 250 Savage. I have a 250 Savage Bolt Action rifle. When I use factory ammo it has to be the 100 grain Silvertip they always exit adn most always plant the deer in its tracks. They only chronograph just over 2600 fps but they are deadly.

As of right now, it's my Remington 700 in .308. I bought it last Febuary and have been highly impressed with the performance. It's a awesome gun. Can't wait for the next time I get to take it out and shoot. It has a crisp 2 1/2 lb trigger pull. It's got a Nikon Prostaff 3x9-40 mounted on top. I will most likely up grade the scope and put this one on my 30-30.

My fav. is my mossberg mdl 800 bolt action in .308 win ole betsy is her name. She aint that pretty but she still works good.

Minnesota I need a brush gun. Marlin .30-30 with a leupold vari x III 2.5x8. Taken countless whitetails with that gun.

My favorite by far... Marlin 1895M .450 Marlin with Reddot scope mounted scout style. Quick pointing, quick shooting and hard hitting. Of course, I only hunt in short range situations in heavy cover, so that might have something to do with it.

I handled a Sendero last weekend for the first time. It's a sweet looking gun, but boy was that thing heavy. Seemed like a high quality rifle though.

Depends where im hunting...
Rem. 760 in .308. with an elite 2-7x32(rifle area)
rem 870 12 ga, rifled sights/barrel(shotgun only area/rifle area for drives)
Optima .50 elite 2-7x32(muzzleloader only area/ couldnt find a pump muzzleloader:D)

This winter I plan to start a project that will turn my first deer rifle back into my favorite rifle....or at least one of 'em. I have a 1903 Steyr Mannlicher in 7 X 57. Although it still has the original military bolt, safety and trigger, it has accounted for several deer when I was younger. Its iron sights don't make it usable enough for my 50 yr old eyes anymore, even though they are nice after market express style sights with 100 yd fixed, and 200 yd and 300 yd flip ups.
I'm planning on having the bolt turned, changing out the trigger and installing a 3 position safety (if they make one for this rifle). Then drill and tap and mount a quality scope with low mounts. It is the smoothest action I own and I'm looking forward to getting it back.

have had a 12 ga. Rem Winmaster since I was 16. Shot several deer with it and love it, but a scope failure a few years back led me to get a backup gun - a 12 ga. Ithaca 37. Boy I love that Ithaca now (lighter and just feels better and have see thru scope mounts). So now the Rem is the backup (but I still love it the same.

I have a .44 Win Wrangler and .270 Rem. 7600 for rifle hunting - I use the 7600 exclusively now.

With out a doubt it would be my .243. I have hunted with .06's, .270's, 7mags and everything in between and I love the .243 the best. With velocity's hovering at 2400 fps at 300 yds, low recoil , low noise levels, super flat trajectory's and tendancy's to drive tacks I believe it is the ultimate deer caliber.
You have to shoot one for yourself, the confidence levels you achieve are like no other, place the cross hairs where you want, shoot and watch the deer fall through your scope (no recoil) its that easy.
The little 100 gr. bullet does tremendous damage to deer, its like the perfect speed for a given bullet weight. It does more damage than biger calibers. Check out my post on the 2 deer I killed this year with it. Click the link below.

I have only used it two years and love it, having taken 15 deer with it. We make drives and hunt from stands. I love it. It was my dad's before I got old enough to use it and he bought a knew one.

Hey BUCKMARK, I was just re-reading a Jack O'Connor book and he figured the Savage 99 in .300 sav. with a peer or low power scope was about the best "bush-deer" gun he'd seen. He had owned a short barreled bolt gun in 7mm mauser that he liked for a bush-deer gun as well.

I have never owned one but I think a Win. model 88 or 100 in .308 or .284 with a low variable scope would be a great all-around bush deer sized game gun.

But then the question asked for my "favorite" and that would have to be the gun I've used the most and most often reach for in the morning. My Win model 70 in .264 win. mag. with a variable 3 to 9 scope. I have wacked deer on the run at 40 yards with it and ambushed them as they fed in a grain field at 275 yards.

I use a 30-30 marlin. It shoots tight groups at 100 yds and in the woods i hunt, i don't shoot much farther than that. I already knocked down 2 doe and my frist buck witch was a monster 8 pointer. The 30-30 knocked it down right in its tracks to. Also for where i post thier is allot of ground cover and i need a good brush gun. Luckly so far though i never had to shoot into any of that stuff.
