RE: Why no hunting on Sundays?

We hunt seven days a week during the season in Washington state.

The "No Sunday Hunting" law is probably a residual of the old Blue Laws. I don`t know why they were called that. Remember the Sabbath and keep it holy and to help you do this we will write a bunch of laws and regulate morality. Anyway, when I was living in Indiana, an old blue law said you couldn`t buy booze on Sunday or on election day. Now what good is voting if you can`t get good and numb before going to the polls?

It's just a little religion being shoved down our throats.

Here in new york we can hunt 365 a year.

Hunting is nature.
It is our nature to hunt.
I'm not a hunting fanatic just a hunting addict.

For some reason Jersey loves its "blue laws". Heck, the malls and other stores are all closed in NJ in most counties!

Where I live we can bow hunt any time of the season on any day, even in gun season if we wear orange. NO guns on Sundays though. But it veries from county to county. I think it is something that has to be voted in, so aparently someone wanted it that way.

In MD you can NOT hunt game animals or birds on Sunday. Something about too many hunters getting struck by lightning from heaven on Sundays.

I hate the law because I work alot and have to drive 2+hrs to the camp, so besides vacation time I can only hunt weekends. It wouldn't be so bad if I were out in the country and could hunt after work, but with no sundays I effictivly lose 1/2 of my hunting opportunities.

365 days of the year. If they closed sundays I might not go along with that .

There isn't any law like that in Ks, and I'm glad. I go hunting on Sunday, thanksgiving and christmas, and don't see any problem with it.

There isn't a rational reason why we all shouldn't be able to hunt on Sundays for any type of game animal or bird.

In Georgia if the season is open anyday is good to go. But if you want some adult beverages after the hunt on Sunday you will have to buy them on Saturday.
Folks where there is no hunting on Sundays and you want it. YOU ARE THE GOVERNMENT! Get control of your seasons. You would be surprised what a good petetion can do for ya. Political activism works try it.

You won't see it happen here in Pa, too many religous groups against it.It is a shame though with how everyone has to work now it would allow more time hunting for most people including fathers and sons and daughters to help keep the hunting tradition alive.

There is no hunting on Sunday's in Pa due to the churches here. I hope they don't change it I think the animals need a day of rest too!

I agree with the majority here on this thing, sunday and Holiday hunting should be allowed in each and every state in this country. Talk about being behind the times on this or what!! I can't believe that the sportsmen in the states that don't allow it, haven't protested or at the very least, voted out the people who are keeping that dumb law in effect in the first place!!!

Like it or not in the smaller towns the elected people listen to the voters. If the church going people (that vote) don't want to hear a rifle going off while in church they talk to the mayor, Gov, or senator. Where I live now it's not an issue. Where I use to live that was not the case. The number of people that went to church and voted out numbered the hunters that voted.
All I can say is VOTE! It may make a difference.

I am not saying that hunters don't go to church or vote. Just wanted to make that clear.

The deer could always rest in the back of my truck if it wanted. It would be ok with me. It would be the longest nap it ever took.
