The most fun I've ever had!
This is a picture of my 14yr olds first buck. He weighed in at 200+ pounds and field dressed at 158. He scored 157 6/8 gross, and 146 6/8 net. This was as enjoyable as any hunting trip I have ever been on. The thrill on the face is priceless. Alot of my buddies say I have spoiled the boy by letting him shoot this deer. Some have told him to just put his gun up cause it don't get any better. He has been hunting with me several times and I told him this year if we saw a shooter, he could have it. I hope I haven't spoiled him, but I don't think I have. He's wanting to go more now than ever! I've had to impress on him that this was an exception not the standard. It doesn't happen that often. Anyway.... Larry

That is a great buck! Your son deserves to be proud of that one.
As far as spoiling him, I don't see how taking your boy into the woods to harvest a deer together could ever be considered spoiling. Like you said, he's excited about hunting. But hunting with your dad is even more exciting.
You're telling him that these kinds of mature bucks don't come around too often, so he knows better now. It's important to be grateful for the deer that we do encounter, and each should be equally exciting in its own way.
Good luck to the both of you in future hunts!
