Hunting Clubs...ELK?
When you think hunting clubs you think south.
Well, not anymore , Im starting a big game hunting club in Colorado. I have help from two friends in Minden LA. What I need from all of you is info as to how your clubs are set up & conducted.
We are based from my home in S.W. Colorado with 1400+ acres with a stong elk population and a very good chance for trophy class mule deer, but we are limited by the short Colorado elk seasons 1 archery 1 black powder 4rifle (1 week each) ALL deer tags are by application only.
Any suggestions will be helpful.
Thank you from Colorado

Keep the rules as simple as possible. Have one or two as boss. Any new members are on a one or two year probation so you can ascertain their ability to be a good member. New members should be invited to join by members that have direct knowledge of their character. Hold dues as low as possible and still be able to pay lease while keeping an eye out for more available land. We try to have cookouts or go out and eat often.

Well first I guess it depends on how many members you plan on having. You should have a President, a Board (consisting of 3-5 members), a treasurer. and then your general membership. You need to set your rule and then stick by them, no exceptions. If problems arise then the board can get together and vote on them. You should keep the other members informed on dues, land leases and other money issues.
