How do you find your stand early in the morning?
I have hunted with guys and have wondered how do they find their stands, early in the morning. How do you locate your stand in bad weather, for example in snow or heavy rain? Do you use tacks, or lean branches against trees as you head toward your area, or GPS in the dark, interested in hearing what you have to say!

landmarks that are visible in the dark....and ive been to mine alot in the day and night..practice makes perfect....i can make it to within 20 yards of my spot with no flashlight at all time and time again.....ran wind blizzard it doesnt matter...ill find it...almost all of our walk in is on a 15ft wide cut path the game commision cut to help guys get back there(state game lands) but theres alot of turnes and such we got to watch out for....then me and dad split up....then we have to find our spots alone...i like to find a big tree or rock or something where i have to turn into the woods off the cut trail....then i look for a few other trees i know of then some rocks that sit behind a big pine tree...none of these things will ever move or fail me as long as a i can see....works for me....all my hunting spots i identify alot of good solid landmarks you cant miss....then i narrow it down to the very best ones i know will be visible in the dark to use to find my way in...works for me....me and dad give eachother directions by our land marks.....its pretty funny to listen to us i guess.....goto the mountain laruel tree..make a left...walk in till you come to a big rock...turn left and look for a big pile of trees....thats how dad goes to his deer stand.....he sits in the pile of trees...i hang a left at a tree that fell on the side of the trail...then go in until i am close to a big pine tree...then i turn left and look for a pile of boulders....and i sit atop of one of those lol....good luck......i love passing all the guys waiting for the light to come out so they can walk into their spots.....one morning we actually had a guy stop us....he asked us how we can see its dark out and you dont even have a flashlight!? i just laughed.....

I use a small LED healight. Gives off just enugh light to light my path and reflective tacks. Batteries last for 150 hrs. Still have not found a way to cut down on the noise. I have bumped several deer going in.

I will use those tacks if I am in an area that I dont know. But I mostly hunt land that I know very well, and I just walk to my stand. Might put a tack near my stand, so I know when I get there. Sometimes I get confused when the branches are low due to heavy snow.

I used to use a flagging tape (kinda like the timber company) works pretty good too. The only problem I've ever had is they wound up clear cutting around my stand.[] Makes it easy to find though.
