THIS STINKS
Season has been out a week in north Georgia and already going through withdrawls. Trying to decide what to do next year and where to hunt. Want to go shoot a Mule deer and a antelope, but also want to go back to texas and also want to go up around Iowa. Many decisions ahead, anyone elso going off on a hunt nest year, around Iowa or out west somewhere, would be interested in other peoples ideas on where they would like to go hunting outside of the state they live in.

RE: THIS STINKS
I'm planning a trip to NY this year for turkeys. (possible bigfoot)
I found a good outfitter in Idaho for mullies and elk. But, the wife cancelled that trip, said I had to take her to Cancun this year. Oh well maybe next year. If you want the info I got, I'll be glad to send it to you. |
RE: THIS STINKS
Thanks but Idaho is to far to drive, the heck with flying with guns, would rather drive, alot easier but idaho is a little to far to drive
|
RE: THIS STINKS
If I had my way, I'd head to West Texas for whitetails and then up to Montana for mulies. But, finances dictate otherwise. I've got a full plate this year anyway. Spring gobbler hunting in Southern Virginia, early-season whitetail in Ohio, Southern Virginia whitetail rifle hunting, and Maryland whitetail shotgun hunting in November.

RE: THIS STINKS
I am content with hunting ohio. But if some one was to twist my arm ;) I would like to go up north to canada and hunt some of those brutes. I couldn't imagine seeing a deer dress out at 250-300 pounds. That is just unreal. 200 pounders around here are absolutle hogs. add another 50 to 100 pounds on that, just huge.

RE: THIS STINKS
You could always apply for a tag here in Nebraska. There is a lot of public hunting land in western Nebraska that has both mulies and antelope. In eastern Nebraska, all that we have are whitetails, but mulies are gradually moving this way. My dad shot a 3x4 mulie buck this year that was in the eastern one-third of the state. If that doesn't work, you may want to contact an outfitter in Wyoming. They have some big antelope and mulies there. Good luck to you.

|
RE: THIS STINKS
I cant really afford a paid hunt. But I'll slip anyone a $100 and some gas money for a few days in ANY other state besides Florida to hunt.[:-]
I'll clean all the deer to.:) |
RE: THIS STINKS
If you want to hunt in Nebraska, try getting a tag for the Elkhorn Unit. Heck, I'll take you out hunting with me.
|
RE: THIS STINKS
will definetly look at it, how is the pheasant hunting
|
RE: THIS STINKS
Pheasant hunting this year was awesome! There were so many birds this year around my place and some other places that I hunt that you bagged out by noon.
|
RE: THIS STINKS
i shot some pheasants in kansas two years ago had alot of fun, wish we had wild pheasants down here
|
RE: THIS STINKS
I have never been that far south, heck for that matter east. You really have no pheasants? You would really have fun hunting here then. A good dog and a pocket full of shells is all you need to have a memorable experience hunting them here. Let me know if you ever get to Nebraska during season and I'll take you out to some of my favorite spots.
|
RE: THIS STINKS
will do, if you come south let me know

RE: THIS STINKS
Farmcntry, go to the Carribbean man, much nicer in the islands, and you should be able to save $ over Cancun. Then use that $ for hunting!

RE: THIS STINKS
Where my in-laws live, Calhoun County, Illinois. I've been married to my wife for 12 years now and STILL haven't made it out there yet to hunt! My in-laws own 110 acres and I also have invitations from other relatives. I always use up my vacation time. I always use 2 weeks for a Canadian fishing trip that my Dad and I have been going on every year for the past 8 years. I also take a week to hunt with my Mom & Dad back home in N.J. because they don't have many hunting years left and I want to hunt with them for as long as I can. But I'll get out there one of these years, you can bet on it!

RE: THIS STINKS
Bionicrooster, Wyoming is a great place for both.
last season while doe antelope hunting i had a beautiful broadside shot on a 17 in prongbuck, but only had doe tags! 2 hrs later saw a gorgeous 11x9 nontypical 35"+ mulie buck so this is the place to go man! |
