...you may not be able to argue , but you can tell the facts.......Wild food is grown without biocides or large inputs of petroleum , both of which are mainstays of modern agriculture. Biocides kill all sorts of wildlife - birds, rodents, reptiles , fish- and the extraction of petroleum causes displacement and deaths of Caribou, grizzlies , birds……..the list is long.Producing organic vegetables also has a bloody price tag. Deer , for example are routinely controlled so that the organic soybeans , apples , and salad greens can be grown successfully. Thus the purest of vegans can’t avoid indirectly killing wildlife In the process of eating!
Instead of denying the situation , hunting places one firmly in the midst of it .

nyflyer - you said you were lookin for facts...on PETA's website, they make hunters and trappers look bad for killin animals, but they don't say a blessed thing about the farmers who harvest their crops for the veggie eaters...when a farmer harvests crops, mice are killed, which means the snakes have no food, so they die. When they die, the hawks and other birds of prey have no food. so they die. the peta ppl only see what they want to see and as many of them as there are, i know somebody besides me has to know this.

There is no short, sweet and to the point remark that you can give an anti that will in any way change their opinion. Sad but true. I once had a secretary who had a houseful of birds, cats, dogs, etc. ANY killing of an animal was the same as murdering a human being to her. After coming back from my hunt one year she overheard that I was having my deer head mounted by a taxidermist. She said ,"How would you like it if someone shot you and put your head up on the wall"? Now how do you respond to someone like that. I was paying her salary and I know she needed her job to pay bills and still was so outraged that she had to make that comment to her employer. I let it go. I would not terminate an employee for expressing a personal opinion(even though it was a very rude remark to her boss). My point is most anti's are so profoundly locked into their postion on this subject that mere facts do not equate with them. I think their position on this is as ingrained in them as ours is. Agree to disagree and then have a nice evening with your friends.

I once told someone, if I was killed by aliens, and they found some part of my anatomy intresting enough to hang on the wall, it's OK with me.
